Art & Design at Hallwood Park Primary School
At Hallwood Park Primary School, we believe that Art & Design plays a vital role in developing creativity, confidence and self-expression. In our context, it provides pupils with important opportunities to explore ideas, experience culture and communicate their thoughts in ways that go beyond words.
Through the Kapow curriculum, pupils develop both artistic knowledge (colour, line, form, texture and composition) and disciplinary skills (drawing, painting, sculpture, collage and design). Pupils are encouraged to experiment, take risks and develop their own artistic voice.
Early Years Foundation Stage
In EYFS, Art & Design is taught through Expressive Arts and Design. Children explore a wide range of materials and begin to express their ideas through making.
Pupils begin to:
- explore mark-making, colour and texture
- use a range of tools and materials
- represent ideas and emotions through art
- talk about their creations and the process they have used
Learning is play-based and exploratory, building confidence and creativity.
