Attendance & Absence
Attendance at Hallwood Park
At Hallwood Park, we know that good attendance is the key to success. Regular school attendance ensures that children do not miss out on vital learning, social development, and opportunities to achieve their full potential. We expect all pupils to attend school every day and on time, unless there is a valid reason for absence.
Why Attendance Matters
- Pupils who attend school regularly achieve better academic results and have greater career opportunities in the future.
- Poor attendance can lead to gaps in learning, making it harder for children to keep up with their classmates.
- Frequent absences can affect a child’s confidence and friendships, making it more difficult for them to settle into school life.
How We Support Good Attendance
We work closely with families to encourage and maintain good attendance. Some of the ways we do this include:
✔ Rewarding good attendance with prizes, certificates, and competitions.
✔ Providing support for families facing challenges with attendance.
✔ Regularly monitoring attendance and addressing any concerns early on.
Reporting Absences
If your child is absent, it is essential that you log the absence on School Spider as soon as possible. You must include the reason for the absence.
📢 If we do not receive notification of an absence, we will contact you by phone. If we are unable to reach you, a home visit may be carried out.
Government Guidelines & Fines
Hallwood Park follows the latest government legislation regarding school attendance. This means that:
- Parents/carers have a legal responsibility to ensure their child attends school regularly.
- Unauthorised absences may result in fines, which are issued in accordance with national regulations.
- Term-time holidays are strongly discouraged and will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances.
